Generative AI Policy
The Journal of Islamic Thought and Philosophy acknowledges the increasing use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies, particularly Generative AI (GenAI) such as ChatGPT, Copilot, Gemini, and similar tools in academic writing. While these tools may support the writing process, their use must be responsible, transparent, and aligned with the values of academic integrity, intellectual autonomy, and ethical authorship.
Disclosure Requirement: Authors must disclose any use of Generative AI or AI-assisted technologies during the writing process. A statement must be included under a dedicated section titled “Declaration of Generative AI and AI-Assisted Technologies in the Writing Process” and placed before the references section upon initial submission. This statement will also appear in the final published version.
Permitted Use: Generative AI and similar tools may only enhance language clarity, readability, or grammar. They may not be used to generate arguments, develop philosophical reasoning, or interpret findings, which must remain the responsibility of the author(s).
Author Responsibility: All content generated with the assistance of AI must be critically reviewed, edited, and verified by the author(s). Authors retain full responsibility and accountability for the manuscript's accuracy, originality, and integrity.
AI Cannot Be Listed as Author: AI tools and AI-assisted technologies must not be listed as authors or co-authors, as authorship implies human responsibility and intellectual accountability.
