This article aims to analyze the interpretation of gender verses in Bisri Musthofa’s al-Ibrīz li Ma‘rifat Tafsīr al-Qur’ān al-‘Azīz. As a work written in the social context of Javanese Pesantren, which is often considered a bastion of patriarchal traditions, Bisri presents a unique perspective in understanding gender verses. This research was conducted through a literature study with a deductive method. The results of the study reveal two important points. First, Bisri interprets that men and women have equality, although men have some advantages such as knowledge, reason, and territory. However, there are certain things that cannot be equalized, such as polygamy, the role of guardians for women, women’s leadership, and the division of inheritance. This shows that men and women should coexist to complement each other. Second, Bisri Musthofa’s thoughts include moderate interpretations, influenced by the context and environment of his time. Second, Bisri’s interpretation of gender verses can be categorized as moderate. The construction of Bisri’s gender thought is influenced by the context and social environment of his time. This view shows wisdom in responding to gender issues that occurred in the pesantren community in Java at that time.
Hanif Pangestu Hanif, Fejrian Yazdajird Iwanebel Copyright (c) 2024 Hanif Pangestu Hanif, Fejrian Yazdajird Iwanebel https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc/4.0 https://jurnalfuf.uinsa.ac.id/index.php/jipct/article/view/2613 Thu, 01 Jun 2023 00:00:00 +0000 Sketsa Altruisme Al-Qur’an: Tafsir QS. al-Ḥasyr [59]: 9 dalam al-Jāmi‘ li Aḥkām al-Qur’ān dan Tafsīr al-Munīr https://jurnalfuf.uinsa.ac.id/index.php/jipct/article/view/2625
Altrūism is a moral concept opposite to individūalism and selfishness, where one pūts others ahead of oneself withoūt expecting anything in retūrn. As a resūlt of this stūdy, both al-Qūrṭūbī and Wahbah al-Zūḥaylī ūse of the meaning of prioritizing others over oneself in worldly pūrsūits with an orientation wishing for lūck according to religioūs views. The difference between the two is in the breadth of the discūssion, where Wahbah al-Zūḥaylī only mention how God looks and describes the Anshar people with several characteristics related to īthār.
