Article Correction and Removal Policy
Article Withdrawal
Article withdrawal applies exclusively to Articles in Press—those that have been accepted for publication but have not yet been formally published and, therefore, lack complete volume, issue, and page information. Articles in the Press may be withdrawn under specific circumstances, including:
-
The article was submitted in error or was inadvertently submitted more than once.
-
The article contains significant errors.
-
The article violates professional ethical standards, such as instances of plagiarism, fraudulent data usage, duplicate submission, or misrepresentation of authorship.
When such issues are identified, the article will be marked as "Withdrawn" in accordance with the Journal of Ushuluddin and Islamic Thought (JUIT) policy on Article Withdrawal. The article’s content (both HTML and PDF) will be removed and replaced with a statement confirming the withdrawal, including a link to the journal’s official withdrawal policy.
Article Retraction
Articles may be retracted when they are found to have violated professional and scholarly ethics, including but not limited to:
-
Plagiarism
-
Multiple or redundant submissions
-
Falsification or fabrication of data
-
Misrepresentation of authorship
Retractions may also be issued to correct substantive errors that significantly impact the integrity or findings of the publication. Retractions may be initiated by the authors or the editorial team, often upon recommendation from the scholarly community.
The journal follows best practices as recommended by international academic and publishing organizations. Retraction procedures include:
-
A Retraction Notice titled “Retraction: [article title]”, signed by the editor and/or authors, will be published in a subsequent issue and included in the table of contents.
-
The online version links the retraction notice directly to the original article.
-
A retraction screen will precede the online article, providing context before access.
-
The original PDF remains available but will be watermarked as "Retracted" on every page.
-
The HTML version of the article will be removed to avoid inadvertent citation.
Article Removal (Legal Grounds)
In extremely rare circumstances, removing an article from the journal’s online archive may become necessary. This action will only be taken when:
-
The article is clearly defamatory.
-
It infringes upon legal rights.
-
It is subject to a court order.
-
It poses a substantial and immediate risk to public health or safety.
In such cases, while the metadata (title and author details) will be preserved for record-keeping and transparency, the article’s content will be replaced with a notice indicating that it has been removed for legal reasons.
Article Replacement
If an article is found to contain critical errors that may pose a serious risk if acted upon—particularly in fields related to public health, safety, or ethical sensitivity—the authors may choose to withdraw the original version and publish a corrected version in its place.
In such cases, the standard retraction procedures will apply, with the addition that:
-
The retraction notice will include a link to the corrected, republished article.
-
A document history will be maintained and made accessible to readers.
