The Journal of Islamic Philosophy and Contemporary Thought (JIPCT) is a peer-reviewed, open-access international journal published biannually by the Faculty of Ushuluddin and Philosophy, UIN Sunan Ampel Surabaya, Indonesia. Since its establishment in 2023, the journal has advanced empirical and theoretical inquiry into Islamic philosophy, Islamic theology, religious studies, and Sufism, treating Islam as both a historically grounded intellectual tradition and a dynamic lived reality across diverse social contexts. JIPCT publishes original, high-quality English-language research spanning kalām and theological thought, mysticism and Sufism, Muslim intellectual movements, comparative theology, religious experience, and the study of Muslim communities within their social, cultural, and political dimensions.

The journal is committed to interdisciplinary scholarship that situates classical Islamic thought within contemporary socio-scientific and humanistic frameworks, with submissions evaluated on the basis of theoretical depth, methodological soundness, and contribution to ongoing scholarly debates. JIPCT prioritizes research that generates substantive theoretical insights, comparative analyses, and conceptually significant case studies with implications that extend beyond specific regional contexts. While foregrounding Indonesia's distinctive intellectual landscape, the journal actively encourages transnational and cross-cultural perspectives, serving scholars, researchers, policymakers, and graduate students working at the intersection of Islamic philosophy, theology, religious studies, and related interdisciplinary fields.

Pursuant to the Decree of the Director General of Research and Development, Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Technology of the Republic of Indonesia No. 156/C/C3/KPT/2026, the Journal of Islamic Philosophy and Contemporary Thought (JIPCT) has been awarded New Accreditation Rank 3 (SINTA 3). This accreditation is effective from Volume 1, Issue 1 (2023) to Volume 5, Issue 2 (2027).
