About the Journal
The Journal of Islamic Philosophy and Contemporary Thought (JIPCT) is a peer-reviewed, open-access international journal published biannually by the Faculty of Ushuluddin and Philosophy, UIN Sunan Ampel Surabaya, Indonesia. Established in 2023, JIPCT advances empirical and theoretical research on Islamic philosophy, Islamic theology, religious studies, and Sufism, viewing Islam as both an evolving intellectual tradition and a lived social reality.
The journal promotes interdisciplinary scholarship that connects classical Islamic intellectual heritage with contemporary socio-scientific and humanistic perspectives. JIPCT welcomes high-quality English-language submissions in the fields of Islamic philosophy, kalām and theological thought, mysticism and Sufism, Muslim intellectual movements, comparative theology, religious experience, and studies of Muslim communities within their social, cultural, and political contexts.
JIPCT prioritizes rigorous and original research that offers broad theoretical insights, comparative analyses, and conceptually relevant case studies. While highlighting Indonesia’s dynamic intellectual landscape, the journal encourages transnational and cross-cultural approaches. It serves scholars, researchers, policymakers, and graduate students engaged in Islamic studies, philosophy, theology, religious studies, and related interdisciplinary fields.
