About the Journal
Jurnal Review Politik (JRP) is a peer-reviewed scholarly journal that provides an academic platform for the study of Islam, politics, and governance from both theoretical and empirical perspectives—published biannually by the Department of Islamic Political Thought, Faculty of Ushuluddin and Philosophy, UIN Sunan Ampel Surabaya, Indonesia.
The journal aims to advance critical and comparative studies of Islamic political thought and its expressions in contemporary Muslim societies. JRP particularly emphasizes the intellectual, ethical, and socio-political traditions of the Southeast Asian and Malay–Indonesian Muslim world within the broader global discourse on Islam and politics. By bridging classical Islamic thought and modern political realities, JRP aspires to contribute to the rethinking of governance, democracy, and justice through an Islamic civilizational lens.
JRP focuses on original research articles, conceptual analyses, and critical reviews within the following core areas: Islamic Political Thought and Governance; Religion, State, and Society; Democracy, Ethics, and Leadership; Political Islam and Civil Movements; and Digital Politics and Religious Communication.
JRP distinguishes itself by foregrounding Southeast Asian and Malay–Indonesian perspectives in Islamic political studies. The journal situates local political thought within comparative and cross-civilizational frameworks, fostering dialogue between Islamic scholarship, global political theory, and postcolonial studies.
All submissions must demonstrate theoretical depth, analytical originality, and methodological rigor in accordance with international academic standards of clarity, objectivity, and ethical research practice.
